Annual Reports

Opportunity. Some say it’s based on luck, chance or favorable circumstances. Others might argue that it is sought out or created with an end-goal in mind. Regardless of its origin, opportunity is either seized or unseen. I’d have to say that the Akron Area YMCA works hard to seize every opportunity possible.

It’s evident that members benefit from scholarships and community events made possible through community collaboration. I am proud of the Y Staff who take heart to the children and provide opportunities for growth with educational programs. Or the volunteers who go out of their way to interact with families within each branch. And I’m especially grateful to our generous partners who contribute towards Partners With Youth, giving 12,888 kids, teens, adults and families the opportunity to experience the Akron Area YMCA in 2009 alone.

As a mission-driven association, we look for, create and engage in every opportunity. We unite families, involve the community and provide opportunities for growth and development to all.
