Mary and Joann

"Our brains just think alike," said Mary, looking for agreement and possible witty retort from her Y buddy, Joanne, before they both burst out into a hearty laugh.

They do that a lot. They laugh and connect in group exercise classes or while solving the world's problems and talking about food on their trek around the indoor track. That's actually where the pair saw each other - while walking above and Joanne was taking a Zumba class below. They didn't exactly lock eyes, but did become fast friends when Mary joined the class and found her place and her new best buddy at the back of the room. Together, Joanne and Mary have become a force - doing their routines - sort of - and singing all the words (even incorrectly) while whooping and moving to a rhythm that's become their norm.

"I am completely different when she's not here," said Joanne.
