EVENTS

The day will consist of several events you can register for. You can find descriptions for each event below! If you have any questions, you can reach out to Ali Ziegler at aliZ@akronymca.org.

1 MILE RUN/WALK

Participants: This event is open to any male or female participant. There is no minimum or maximum participation per branch.

Rules: Participants will be timed while walking or running a 1-Mile course. There will be a timed-trial one week before the Series to determine the heats at each participating branch.  

AIR HOCKEY

Participants: This event is open to a maximum of 2 players per branch. Rules: 1. First serve goes to person top on the bracket. 2. Each game is 5 minutes (I added this) 3. To score a point, the puck must fully enter the goal. Rebounds or pucks that get stuck halfway in do not count as a point. 4. When a player makes a goal, the other player serves the puck next. 5. A player may only strike the puck when it is on their side of the centerline. 6. Mallets may not cross the center line when striking the puck. 7. A player may stand behind or alongside the game table, as long as they remain on their side of the centerline. 8. A puck that is touching any part of the centerline is fair play for either player. 9. No “topping” the puck—this means players cannot lift their mallet and place it over the puck to hold it in place. 10. No touching the puck with hands, arms, or other body parts. 11. Double elimination. One game to 5 minutes.

CONNECT FOUR

Participants: This event is open to a maximum of 4 participants per branch.

Rules:

  1. Single elimination. Best 2 out of 3.
  2. First to 4 in a row, wins.
  3. Starting person is person top on the bracket.

CORN HOLE

Participants: This event is open to a maximum of 6 two-person teams per branch.

Rules: STANDARD CORN HOLE RULES. Boards will be 27 feet apart. First to reach (or exceed) 21 wins (per ACA rules). We will be using rally scoring. Brackets will be filled in as teams check in.

EUCHRE

Please see fitness director for game rules.

FREE THROW CONTEST

Participants: This event will be open to any male or female. Participation is unlimited per branch.

Rules: Male Participants will use standard size basketball (29.5). Female Participants will use standard women’s size basketball (28.5). Best of ten shots made will advance in the double elimination format. Male Winner and Female Winner to be awarded. Shooter must stay behind the line until the ball is released. 

GROUP DANCE COMPETITION

Participants:  Each branch may have a maximum of one team entered for this event. 

Rules: A panel of judges will evaluate each team based on song selection, technical difficulty, choreography, and creativity. The song is required to be under 5 minutes.

PICKLEBALL - MIXED DOUBLES

Participants:

This event is open to a maximum of 4 two-person team per branch

 

Rules:

1. Teams consist of 2 players (male & male, male & female, Female & female)

2. Winning team must get to a score of 11 and win by a minimum of 2 points

3. Double elimination format

4. Line judges may be used for medal round games

5. All general Pickleball rules apply

6. Starting team is the top team on the bracket.

PING PONG

Participants: This event will be open to any male or female. Participation is unlimited per branch.

Rules:

  1. Participants will compete in double elimination, 1 game.
    1. Games to 11 points. Win by 2 if tied.
    2. Standard ping pong rules apply.

PLANKS

Participants: This event will be open to any male or female. Participation is unlimited per branch.

Rules:

  1. Participants will compete in how long they can hold a plank with good form. HIGH PLANK REQUIRED.
    1. Good form is: Get into pushup position, arms should be fully extended.
    2. Keep palms and toes firmly planted on the ground, and back straight.
    3. Body is in a straight line while in plank position. Don’t let back or head sag.
  2. A judge will determine when plank form is no longer detected, signaling the end of time. 

TRIVIAL PURSUIT CONTEST

Participants: This event is open to two teams of 4 participants per branch.

Rules:

  1. Participants will compete in trivia contest using provided trivia game questions.
  2. Teams will compete head to head for 10 questions. Each team will be given the same questions and will write the answer on a dry erase board to show the host.
    1. Each team will have 1 minute to answer the question.
  3. The team with the most correct answers will be advance to next round. Tie breakers will be decided by sudden death format.
  4. Double Elimination format will be followed.
  5. Trivia Games will be provided to participating branches a minimum of 30 days in advance.
