FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Being a member of the Akron Area YMCA allows you to visit any of the 6 membership branches in Summit and Medina Counties. You also have access to Child Watch, early registration for programs like swimming and personal training, discounted admissions to Y events and the ability to travel the country and use your Y membership card while you are out of town, as we have Nationwide membership.
Some of our branches offer 24/7 access. To use this perk, you must be an ADULT YMCA member in good standing. The branches currently offering 24/7 access as of 2023 are Lake Anna YMCA in Barberton and Wadsworth YMCA in Wadsworth*. To begin using this membership feature, you will need to FIRST stop in to that branch and have them add the 24/7 access to your membership account -- free of charge.
Yes. For sure, the Y closes on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We normally are open for partial hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Our 24/7 branches are ALWAYS OPEN.
The easiest way to make a change to your Membership is to pop in or call the branch.
When you join the Y, we ask for a credit card. This card is automatically charged each month you are a members of the Y. If there is a change to that billing card, please make sure you contact your favorite Akron Area YMCA branch by phone or in person.
Akron Y members have access to Ys in the United States and Puerto Rico who participate in the YMCA nationwide membership program. Through this program, Akron Y members can visit any participating YMCA at no additional cost. Not all YMCAs participate in the Nationwide Membership Program. We strongly recommend checking with the Y you plan to visit before stopping by.
We encourage parents/guardians to take an active role in their children's health and wellness and offer a wide variety of programs and activities for children and families.
Akron Area YMCA members can bring up to 2 (two) individual guests per day or 1 (one) family, defined as 2 adults and dependents up to age 26 living in the same household, as a Membership perk. Age restrictions may apply at various locations. Youth members are prohibited from bringing another youth guest at our Kohl Family Y and Lake Anna branches. Guests must remain with the Member while they are in our facilities. Guests will be able to participate in select programs. Guests are excluded from participating in swim lessons or sports leagues. Such activities require a Y membership. Guests may come in as many times as they wish while accompanied by the member. Daily Guest Fees: $5 per youth $10 per adult $20 per family *No additional fee to try a class/program
